A U.S. official informed ABC News that the U.S. military had hit weapons storage facilities in Yemen, which is under Houthi control.
According to U.S. sources who spoke to ABC News, the U.S. military has attacked Houthi weapons storage facilities in Yemeni regions under Houthi control.
"U.S. Central Command forces conducted multiple airstrikes on numerous Iran-backed Houthi weapons storage facilities within Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen," a defense department official said.
The missiles, according to the defense official, were used to "target military and civilian vessels navigating international waters throughout the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden."
The strikes against "five hardened underground weapons storage locations in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen" were carried out by B-2 strategic stealth bombers, according to confirmation from Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
Additionally, he implied that the use of such a large aircraft for the task was intended to send a message to other criminals operating in the area.
