In the African country of Sudan, more than 14 million people have been forced to leave their homes and move to other places. Some of them have taken refuge in other places inside the country, while others have crossed the border and gone to other countries. Nearly two lakh people have been displaced in the civil war-torn country since last month alone.
These statements were made yesterday, Tuesday, by Amy Pope, Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Reporters were informed by Amy Pope that "10 million people in the country have been internally displaced." A total of 3.1 million individuals crossed the border. Thus, about 1 crore 40 lakh individuals are currently living in a state that has been displaced.

Since April 15 last year, fighting has been going on between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of General Mohamed Hamdan Hemedati Dagalo.The two forces were once allies. In 2021, they seized the power of Sudan through a coup. But the merger of the RSF with the military later led to tension between the two sides.
